Early Sunday morning, we visited Blarney Castle, home of the Blarney Stone.
Kissing the Blarney Stone is said to give one the "Gift of Gab."
According to the guidebooks, during her rein, Elizabeth I
demanded that all Irish Lords sign over their lands to her and swear allegiance
to the English Crown. Lord Blarney sent many flowery and flattering
letters, a delaying tactic to keep from signing over his land.
When she received yet another letter from him, she said,
"It's nothing but more Blarney." And a legend was born
